January 2010 – January 2011

Mario, Zelda, Castlevania – these are just some of the games that debuted on the NES back in the mid/late 80s.  Many of those games had some of the most memorable and recognizable tunes.  8bit-radio.com is just that.  It is my celebration of old-school video game tunes with a modern twist for all to enjoy.

I developed this site completely from scratch using a combination of HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL.  The code also contains a custom community voting system and the results of those votes can influence what is played on the radio stations.

Additionally, I am responsible for the graphic design and art arrangement.  I found this to be a creative outlet outside of programming.

With zero advertising, the site has been a success.  As of this writing, it is hovering around 30,000 unique visitors.

And finally, a few examples of coverage around the net:

Update on August 14, 2014: Approximately 50,000 unique visitors.
